Narendra Modi Stadium Likely To Host T20 World Cup 2026 Final

BCCI had shortlisted five venues for the T20 World Cup 2026, with Ahmedabad emerging as the likely host for the final.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has shortlisted five venues to host matches in the T20 World Cup 2026. In a recent meeting attended by top officials, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Delhi, Chennai, and Mumbai were chosen as the host cities. This time, the tournament will be played across fewer cities compared to the 2023 World Cup.

Venues in Sri Lanka will also stage matches as Pakistan will participate under a hybrid model. However, it is still unclear which Sri Lankan venues will host the games. Among the Indian venues, the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad is the front-runner to host the final. Each of the selected venues is expected to stage at least six matches during the tournament.

Women’s World Cup Venues Excluded From The List

According to reports from Express Sports, the International Cricket Council (ICC) will release the full T20 World Cup schedule in the coming days, with less than 100 days remaining for the marquee event.

The same reports also revealed that the BCCI has decided not to include venues that hosted matches during the Women’s World Cup. As a result, Guwahati, Navi Mumbai, and Indore will miss out on hosting games this time. This move by the BCCI aims to ensure venue rotation and prevent favouritism towards any particular city.

As per the pact between the two nations, India and Pakistan will face each other in Colombo. If Pakistan qualifies for the final, the match will be played at a neutral venue. The decision has been made due to ongoing political differences between the two countries, as both boards have agreed that their teams will not travel to each other’s nation for ICC events.
