“Big Mistake”: Priyank Panchal Advises CSK Against Trading Ravindra Jadeja to Rajasthan Royals

Ravindra Jadeja

Priyank Panchal warned Chennai Super Kings that trading Ravindra Jadeja for Sanju Samson would be a major mistake, given Jadeja’s loyalty and legacy with the team.

Former Gujarat batter Priyank Panchal has cautioned Chennai Super Kings against trading Ravindra Jadeja to Rajasthan Royals in exchange for Sanju Samson, calling it a move that would go against the team’s long-standing culture of loyalty.

Reports suggest that Rajasthan Royals are keen to acquire Jadeja and South African youngster Dewald Brevis as part of a proposed trade, offering their captain Samson in return. Both Jadeja and Samson are valued at ₹18 crore, while Brevis carries a ₹2 crore contract after joining as a mid-season replacement.

Panchal believes Jadeja’s contribution to CSK make him irreplaceable, noting that parting ways with a franchise legend could damage the team’s legacy and fan connection.

“Trading Jadeja bhai for Sanju could be one of the bigger mistakes @ChennaiIPL could make. For a franchise known to sticking by their legends, they shouldn’t be letting go of someone who’s served them so tirelessly for so long, won multiple championships, and is an icon of team,” Panchal wrote on X.

CSK Eye Sanju Samson as Successor to MS Dhoni

Notably, Dewald Brevis has proven to be a bargain signing for Chennai Super Kings. The South African batter scored 225 runs in six innings at a strike rate of 180.

With MS Dhoni’s retirement likely after the 2026 campaign, CSK are reportedly exploring options to trade for Samson, who could fill the wicketkeeper-batter role and appeal to fans across southern India. Meanwhile, Rajasthan Royals view Ravindra Jadeja as a valuable addition for his experience and popularity in western India.
