Former New Zealand pacer Trent Boult surprised fans by naming Rohit Sharma and Mohammed Shami as the two Indian players in his dream six, leaving out Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah. Boult, who has represented Mumbai Indians in the IPL, MI Cape Town in SA20, and MI New York in Major League Cricket, selected one cricketer each from India, Australia, Pakistan, New Zealand, and the West Indies.
Boult picked Rohit and Shami alongside Chris Gayle, Shane Warne, Shaheen Afridi, and himself to complete his list.
“Rohit Sharma. He is one of my favourite batsmen ever. Partnered with Chris Gayle. Destructive. Trent Boult would be the third batter. Shane Warne. Mohammed Shami, beautiful seam presentation. Shaheen Shah Afridi,” Boult said in a video shared by MI Cape Town on Instagram.
Notably, Rohit Sharma has shared the Mumbai Indians dressing room with Trent Boult for three IPL seasons, including their title-winning campaign in 2020. Since his IPL debut in 2008, Rohit has played 272 matches for Deccan Chargers and Mumbai Indians. He scored 7046 runs with two centuries and 47 fifties. He is the second batter after Virat Kohli to cross 7000 IPL runs. With six titles overall, he remains one of the most successful players in IPL history.
