The Sydney Morning Herald reports that Khawaja will discuss rumours about his Test career at a press conference on Friday morning. The 39-year-old is likely to play in the final match, but his red-ball career beyond this series remains uncertain.
Scheduled for 8:15 am (Australian time) at the SCG, the press conference will occur before the team’s training session. While Cricket Australia has not confirmed the speakers, the report states Khawaja is expected to speak.
Khawaja’s performance in this Ashes series has been mixed, with scores of 2, 82, 40, 29, and 0. He injured his back during the first Test in Perth and missed the next match in Brisbane. He was initially expected to be dropped for the third Test in Adelaide but played when captain Steve Smith fell ill.
