Robin Uthappa had urged Virat Kohli to reconsider his Test retirement, as the former India captain prepared for the ODI series against New Zealand.
Former India batter Robin Uthappa sent out a strong message to Virat Kohli, asking the star cricketer to reverse his retirement from Test cricket. Uthappa shared his views in a viral social media post, expressing his desire to see Kohli return to the longest format of the game.
Kohli had retired from Test cricket just ahead of the England series in 2025 and has since remained active only in One-Day Internationals. He is set to feature in the upcoming ODI series against New Zealand. Reacting to Kohli’s intensity during practice, Uthappa posted a photo of him training in the nets ahead of the first ODI, along with a caption that quickly drew attention.

“Them eyes tell u a story Surely it’s time to rescind his Test retirement. Would love to see him back in Test cricket,” Uthappa said.
Meanwhile, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma’s prime form is expected to play a key role in India’s ODI campaign as the full-strength hosts take on a new-look New Zealand side in the first match of the three-match series on Sunday.
Despite the T20 World Cup being less than a month away, Kohli and Rohit are set to remain in the spotlight across the three ODIs over the next seven days. The senior batters have not lacked match practice, having played a couple of Vijay Hazare Trophy league matches each, where they scored heavily and once again underlined that they are far from slowing down.
