Rajat Patidar provides a reassuring update on Virat Kohli’s ankle injury after RCB’s win over MI.

Virat Kohli sparked concern among fans after he did not return to the field during the second innings of the IPL 2026 clash between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Mumbai Indians in Mumbai. The star batter was dealing with an ankle issue, which kept him off the field as MI chased a massive target.

Despite the discomfort, Kohli contributed with the bat, scoring 50 off 38 balls at a strike rate of 131.58. While it was a solid knock, it marked a slight dip compared to his previous three innings, where he had been striking at over 150.

Patidar Reassures Fans, Praises Team Effort

Speaking after the match, RCB skipper Rajat Patidar addressed concerns around Kohli’s fitness and offered a positive update.

He said, “I don’t know yet, but I think he, I feel that he’s okay right now.”

Patidar also highlighted the strong start provided by Kohli and Phil Salt at the top of the order.

“And the way Virat bhai and Salt started the innings, I think that kept us in the driving seat. Then a good cameo by me and Tim (David), I think that was a pure team efforts I would say,” he added.

RCB posted a formidable 240/4, thanks to half-centuries from Salt (78), Kohli (50), and Patidar (53), setting up the game for a successful defense.

RCB Seal Win; Orange Cap Race Heats Up

In reply, Mumbai Indians managed 222/5 despite a valiant unbeaten 71 off 31 balls by Sherfane Rutherford. Suyash Sharma picked up two wickets as RCB maintained control during the chase.

In the Orange Cap standings, Kohli currently sits fifth with 179 runs in four matches, while Patidar is second with 195 runs at an impressive strike rate. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi leads the chart with 200 runs, followed by Heinrich Klaasen and Yashasvi Jaiswal in third and fourth positions, respectively.
