Virat Kohli Set To Play For Delhi In Vijay Hazare Trophy: Report

‘Played Nonstop for 15 Years’: Virat Kohli on His Cricket Career

Virat Kohli was scheduled to represent the Delhi team in the domestic Vijay Hazare Trophy tournament.

Virat Kohli is set to play for Delhi in the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy. The premier domestic 50-over tournament will be held from December 24 to January 18.

This move follows the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s reported desire for both Kohli and Rohit Sharma to feature in the domestic competition. According to a Times of India report, Rohit is likely to play for Mumbai.

“While Rohit is likely to turn up for Mumbai, it is understood that Virat plans to play some Vijay Hazare Trophy games for Delhi in Bengaluru,” the TOI report read.

The report detailed Kohli’s tentative schedule, noting he will return to London after the ODI series against South Africa, which, coach Morne Morkel is confident about, concludes on December 6.

Virat Kohli’s Schedule and Past Record

“Before that, though, Virat is likely to fly back to London after the culmination of the three ODIs vs South Africa but could well link up with the Delhi team in Bengaluru. There hasn’t been any communication with the DDCA in this regard, but India’s No. 3 had more or less sorted his schedule for the rest of the year in Australia itself. There could be an alteration to this plan according to the team’s schedule for the New Zealand ODIs, starting January 11, but Virat could turn up for a few games of VHT, starting December 24,” the report added.

Kohli has a strong record in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. From 2008 to 2010, he played 13 matches for Delhi, scoring 819 runs. He maintained a high average of 68.25 and a strike rate of 106.08.

Virat Kohli’s performances include four centuries and three fifties, with a top score of 124 runs. He also captained Delhi in five matches during the 2010 season, winning three of those fixtures.
