Wanindu Hasaranga has been ruled out of the T20 World Cup with a hamstring injury, and Sri Lanka has named Dushan Hemantha as a replacement.
Sri Lanka has suffered a major setback in the T20 World Cup after Wanindu Hasaranga was ruled out with a hamstring injury. The star spinner picked up the injury during the opening match against Ireland. An MRI scan on Monday confirmed a severe tear in his left hamstring, ending his campaign.
Hasaranga still completed his spell in that game and returned figures of 3 for 25 from 4 overs. However, medical reports later forced him out of the tournament.
The ICC approved Dushan Hemantha as his replacement in the squad. The 31-year-old spin-bowling all-rounder has played 5 ODIs and 3 T20Is for Sri Lanka. He joins the team ahead of their next match against Oman on Thursday.

The ICC also cleared a replacement for New Zealand’s Michael Bracewell, who suffered a calf injury during warm-ups against Afghanistan on February 8 in Chennai. However, New Zealand has not yet named a replacement. Any squad change requires clearance from the Event Technical Committee.
