Sanju Samson produced a sensational batting display at the Wankhede Stadium as he smashed an unbeaten century to power Chennai Super Kings to a commanding total against Mumbai Indians in IPL 2026.
The explosive knock not only set the tone for the match but also earned admiration from some of Mumbai’s biggest stars, including Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, and Jasprit Bumrah.
Opening the innings with intent, Samson dominated the MI bowling attack from the very start. His strokeplay was both elegant and destructive, as he found boundaries with ease and maintained a high scoring rate throughout the innings.

The right-hander remained unbeaten on 101 off just 54 deliveries, laced with 10 fours and 6 sixes, striking at an impressive rate of 187.04. His innings played a crucial role in taking CSK to a formidable total of 207/6 in their 20 overs.
Despite being on the receiving end, Mumbai Indians players acknowledged the brilliance of Samson’s knock. Suryakumar Yadav, known for his attacking flair, was seen applauding the CSK batter’s timing and shot selection during the innings. Hardik Pandya, who had an expensive outing with the ball, also appreciated Samson’s clean hitting and composure under pressure.
Jasprit Bumrah, often regarded as one of the toughest bowlers to face, was among those who congratulated Samson after the innings break. Even though Bumrah managed to pick up a wicket and maintain relative control compared to others, Samson’s dominance was evident throughout the contest.
Samson’s century has now put Mumbai Indians under immense pressure, with the five-time champions needing 208 runs in 20 overs to chase down the target.
