Indian head coach Gautam Gambhir hosted the entire Team India squad for dinner in Delhi ahead of their T20 World Cup 2026 match against Namibia.
In a warm and welcoming gesture off the field, Indian head coach Gautam Gambhir hosted the entire Team India squad and support staff for dinner at his Delhi residence on Sunday evening. The get-together came ahead of India’s T20 World Cup 2026 Group A clash against Namibia.
India had already begun their Group A campaign with a hard-fought opening win over the USA. Following that victory, the Men in Blue arrived in the national capital ahead of their second group match, scheduled to be played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on February 12.
A video of the evening has since gone viral on social media. The clip showed members of the Indian squad arriving at Gambhir’s residence, where they were warmly received by the head coach and his family. Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Abhishek Sharma, among others, were seen attending the dinner.
This was not the first time Gambhir has hosted the team in his home city since taking over as head coach. He had earlier organised a similar dinner during India’s home Test series against the West Indies last year.
Suryakumar Yadav Reveals Gautam Gambhir’s Advice
After India’s win over the USA, captain Suryakumar Yadav spoke about a key conversation he had with Gambhir during his match-winning innings. The coach was seen chatting with Yadav during a break in play at the Wankhede Stadium.

“I always felt that there was a need for a batter to bat till the end. I never felt that it was a 180–190 wicket. I felt it was a 140 wicket. But then Gauti bhai told me the same thing during the break after 14 overs. He told me, ‘Just try and bat till the end; you can cover it any time’,” Suryakumar said at the post-match presentation.
The Mumbai batter played a crucial knock under pressure and was later named Player of the Match for his outstanding performance, which helped India recover from a difficult situation and secure a vital win in their tournament opener.
