Hardik Pandya was seen scolding Jasprit Bumrah on-field after the MI pacer did a blunder and not agree to Pandya’s fielding instructions in the MI vs PBKS clash.
Mumbai Indians endured their fourth defeat in the ongoing Indian Premier League 2026 season after being comprehensively beaten by Punjab Kings. Chasing a challenging target of 196, Punjab sealed the win comfortably in just 16.3 overs, finishing with seven wickets in hand.
Despite a strong total on the board, Mumbai’s bowling unit failed to make an impact, allowing the opposition to dominate the chase with ease and expose the team’s ongoing struggles.
Jasprit Bumrah’s Frustration With Hardik Pandya Caught On Camera
A video that surfaced on X after the match showed Jasprit Bumrah visibly frustrated during a key phase of the game. The incident reportedly occurred when MI captain Hardik Pandya chose to set the field based on his own tactical approach, which did not align with Bumrah’s plan.

The disagreement appeared momentarily heated, though Bumrah eventually followed the captain’s instructions. However, his body language suggested disappointment. In the same clip, Pandya was also seen animatedly instructing his teammates, reflecting his dissatisfaction with the overall effort on the field.
Hardik Pandya Calls For Accountability After Defeat
Following the loss, Hardik Pandya did not shy away from addressing the team’s shortcomings. He admitted that Mumbai Indians need to reassess their approach and potentially make tough decisions moving forward.
“To be very honest, I have nothing to say at the moment. We need to go back to the drawing board and see what we are lacking. Is it individuals? Is it as a group? Is it planning? We will sit and figure it out soon and then we will see what we can do next,” Hardik Pandya stated in the post-match interview.
“We really need to see whether we need to take some bold calls or hope to turn things around with the same group. There are some hard questions which we need to answer and yeah, ownership has to be taken.”
While Quinton de Kock impressed with a century and Naman Dhir added a half-century, the rest of the lineup failed to step up. Bumrah once again went wicketless, conceding 41 runs in four overs, and struggled in the field too as he dropped a regulation catch off the bowling of Hardik Pandya, that upset the skipper.
Mumbai Indians will now turn their attention to a crucial clash against Gujarat Titans on April 20, a match that has quickly become a must-win encounter for the struggling side.
