Notably, it was also the second-highest individual score for Sanju Samson in T20 cricket, with the first one coming against Punjab Kings in Mumbai back in 2021, where he scored 119 runs.

It was also one of the fastest centuries for CSK in the IPL, with Murali Vijay leading with a 46-ball 100, followed by Matthew Hayden’s 50-ball 100 and Shane Watson. Murali Vijay also has a 51-ball hundred.
After the win, Sanju Samson acknowledged the whole Chepauk crowd with a humiliating gesture as he celebrated his century and the whole stadium rose to their feet to applaud him.
Samson was humble and acknowledged the Chennai crowd for the massive support while keeping an eye on the early failures he had in IPL 2026.
“I feel great. You (Ravi Shastri) seem to be my lucky charm in every game so please come to every game. Couple of failures put doubts in your mind but I wanted to trust my basics and stick to what I was working on. Thanks to the curator for making a lovely wicket. Hope we can defend the total,” Samson said mid-match.
DC bowlers were hammered thoroughly, with T Natarajan being the most expensive. Kuldeep Yadav gave away 24 runs from his two overs. Lungi Ngidi proved expensive too, conceding 41 runs from his spell. T Natarajan was wicketless while giving away 54 runs from his spell.
Moreover, Samson’s heroics helped Chennai build up a solid total on board, with Delhi now set to chase the mammoth target of 213 runs at Chepauk.
