West Indies selectors monitored the fitness of Alzarri Joseph and Shamar Joseph as they are finalizing the squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka.
West Indies are waiting on fitness assessments of fast bowlers Alzarri Joseph and Shamar Joseph before finalising their squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, scheduled to be played from February 7 to March 8 in India and Sri Lanka.
The 15-member squads for all 20 participating teams must be submitted to the ICC by January 2. With the deadline approaching, the two unrelated fast bowlers were racing against time to regain full fitness for the marquee tournament.
According to information received by NATIONSPORT, the West Indies selectors had shortlisted 20 players, from which the final squad will be selected. Both Josephs have been out of competitive cricket for a significant period, having last featured in the Caribbean Premier League in September.

Shamar Joseph has reportedly been undergoing treatment for a shoulder injury, while Alzarri Joseph consulted specialists after being diagnosed with a stress-related injury to his lower back. Their recoveries remain central to the selection process.
Meanwhile, there have been no fresh updates on the injuries of left-arm seamers Jediah Blades and Ramon Simmonds, who are also expected to be in contention. Both players were part of the West Indies tour of Bangladesh in October but were forced to return home early. They did not feature for Barbados in the Super50 tournament in Trinidad or at the Bolivarian Games in Lima, Peru.
With time running out, the West Indies selectors are closely monitoring fitness reports as they prepare to lock in the final squad for the global event.
