Jason Holder’s 4/27 and Shai Hope’s unbeaten 61 guided West Indies to a comfortable nine-wicket win against Nepal, sealing their entry into the Super 8 stage.

West Indies defeated Nepal by nine wickets with 28 balls to spare in the 25th Match, Group C, of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup at the Wankhede Stadium on February 15, 2026.

Chasing a target of 134, West Indies reached 134/1 in just 15.2 overs. Captain Shai Hope led from the front with an unbeaten 61 off 44 balls, hitting five fours and three sixes. Shimron Hetmyer supported him well with an unbeaten 46 off 32 balls, including four boundaries and two sixes. The pair added a quick 50-run stand for the second wicket in just 36 balls to seal the game comfortably.

Brandon King gave the team a steady start with 22 off 17 balls before Nandan Yadav dismissed him at 43/1 in 5.3 overs. After that, Nepal failed to take another wicket as Hope and Hetmyer dominated the bowling attack. West Indies scored 44 runs in the powerplay and crossed 100 in 11.6 overs, showing complete control over the chase.

Nepal Strike Derail Early With Windies Power

Earlier, Nepal posted 133/8 in their 20 overs after being put under pressure by a disciplined West Indies bowling attack. Dipendra Singh Airee top-scored with 58 off 47 balls, striking three fours and three sixes. Sompal Kami added a valuable unbeaten 26 off 15 balls to push the total past 130.

Jason Holder delivered a match-winning spell, taking 4/27 in four overs. He removed key batters, including Aasif Sheikh, Dipendra Singh Airee, Aarif Sheikh, and Karan KC. Matthew Forde impressed with 1/10 in four overs, while Akeal Hosein and Roston Chase picked up one wicket each.

With this convincing victory, West Indies have qualified for the Super 8 stage. Though they still have a group stage match left against Italy, with their 3 out of 3 straight wins and a NRR of +1.820, the Caribbeans have sealed their spot for the next leg of the T20 World Cup 2026.
