Yograj Singh Calls Son Yuvraj Singh The Best Cricketer India Has Ever Produced

Yograj Singh named his son Yuvraj Singh as the best cricketer India has ever produced, ignoring legends like Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli.

Former India cricketer Yograj Singh has stirred debate with his latest statement, calling his son Yuvraj Singh the best cricketer India has ever produced. Yograj, who represented India in one Test and six ODIs, made the comment in a viral video on social media.

Yuvraj, one of India’s greatest match-winners, had an illustrious international career spanning over a decade. He featured in 40 Tests, 304 ODIs, and 58 T20Is for the Men in Blue. The left-hander played key roles in India’s victories at the 2007 T20 World Cup and the 2011 ODI World Cup.

His comeback after battling a rare form of cancer in 2011 remains one of the most inspiring stories in cricket. Yuvraj later went on to win the Indian Premier League (IPL) with both Sunrisers Hyderabad and Mumbai Indians.

“If you talk about all-rounders, then Kapil Dev. If you talk about batsmen, then you have Yuvraj Singh, Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman, and Sourav Ganguly – all these guys – but I think Yuvi (Yuvraj) is topping everybody in my book,” Yograj said in a video going viral on social media, after being asked about the best cricketer India has ever produced.

“He would have played about 200 Test matches and maybe 200 centuries, which I thought… and he was capable of,” he added.

Yograj’s remarks spark discussion among fans

Sachin Tendulkar remains the highest run-scorer in international cricket with 15,921 runs in Tests and 18,426 in ODIs. Virat Kohli holds the record for the most centuries in ODI cricket. Meanwhile, VVS Laxman and Sourav Ganguly also had remarkable careers in Tests and ODIs, respectively. India’s 1983 World Cup-winning captain Kapil Dev, on the other hand, is regarded as one of the finest all-rounders in the game’s history.

Yuvraj, now retired, continues to contribute to Indian cricket by mentoring young talents. Players like Shubman Gill and Abhishek Sharma have credited him for shaping their careers. Recently, Yuvraj has been working with promising players such as Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh, helping them prepare for future international challenges.
