Yograj Singh slammed R Ashwin over his remarks on Arjun Tendulkar’s IPL 2026 chances, igniting a major controversy.
Former India cricketer Yograj Singh criticised Ravichandran Ashwin over his view on Arjun Tendulkar’s IPL 2026 chances. The debate followed discussions around Lucknow Super Giants’ probable XI this season. Ashwin had pointed to strong pace options, ignoring Arjun’s chances. Ashwin backed Mohammed Shami, Mohsin Khan and Avesh Khan as the main pacers.
Yograj, who has worked with Arjun earlier, disagreed strongly. He questioned the assessment and defended the youngster’s potential. Yograj also spoke about Arjun’s past fitness issues and technique.
“He is talking bulls**t, this guy, Ashwin, whoever he is. He should know what to talk about somebody. Somebody’s sitting on the television and talking,’ Oh, he can’t do this, he can’t do that’. Who are you? What are you?” Yograj said while talking to InsideSport.

“He is Sachin Tendulkar’s son, that is a different story. When he was here, I told Yuvi, that all of you are concentrating wrong on Arjun Tendulkar. He is not a bowler, he had a spine problem, and his hands come down from 45 degree. When he was here, I was talking to him. I told his coach as well when he was with the Goa team,” he added.
Yograj Singh’s 6-Month Challenge
Yograj Singh then claimed he could transform Arjun Tendulkar’s game with 6 months of training, issuing a public challenge to the critics.
“If you can’t do it. Send him to me, I challenge the whole world that if Arjun Tendulkar spends six months with me, he will surpass all the batters in this world. If not, I will cut off my beard and throw it,” he concluded.
Notably, Arjun joined Lucknow after a trade from the Mumbai Indians. Shardul Thakur moved in the opposite direction during the deal. Tendulkar has played 5 IPL matches so far and taken 3 wickets with an average of 38. His economy rate stands at 9.37.
