Brian Bennett and Brendan Taylor guided Zimbabwe to an eight-wicket win over Oman as they started their T20 World Cup campaign on a strong note.
In the 8th match of the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup, Zimbabwe made a strong start after choosing to bowl first against Oman in their tournament opener. Blessing Muzarabani and Richard Ngarava struck early to put Oman under heavy pressure. Muzarabani claimed three wickets, while Ngarava added one as Oman slumped to 16/4 inside four overs.

Sikandar Raza halted any rebuild by striking in his first over, leaving Oman five down. Vinayak Shukla and Mehmood then attempted to stabilise the innings with a brief partnership. Their stand offered some resistance. Ngarava returned to break the partnership by dismissing Shukla and followed it up with another wicket in the same over. Oman were eventually bowled out in the final over for 103, setting Zimbabwe a modest target.
Chasing 104, Zimbabwe began aggressively and scored freely in the opening three overs. Oman struck back in the fourth over with two quick wickets. The setback brought Brian Bennett and Brendan Taylor together, and the pair stabilised the chase with a composed partnership. They rotated strike well and avoided further risks. Taylor later retired hurt because of a hamstring problem. Sikandar Raza then joined Bennett. Zimbabwe crossed the target comfortably and completed the chase without further trouble, sealing a convincing 8-wicket win.
