Arshdeep Singh revealed that batters take more chances against him when Jasprit Bumrah bowls, which helps him pick up more wickets.
Arshdeep Singh marked his return to India’s playing XI delivering a match-winning spell in the third T20I against Australia in Hobart. The left-arm pacer claimed 3 wickets for 34 runs, helping India secure a five-wicket win and level the series 1-1 with two matches left. His dismissals of Travis Head, Josh Inglis, and Marcus Stoinis halted Australia’s charge, restricting them to 186/6.
Speaking after his Player of the Match performance, Arshdeep said that bowling alongside Jasprit Bumrah often brings him more wicket-taking chances, as batters tend to take greater risks against him.
“When someone is coming hard at you, there’s always a chance to pick up wickets. And when someone like Bumrah is bowling from the other end, batters often take more risks against me, that gives me wicket-taking opportunities,” Arshdeep said.
“I’ve just been working on my process, trusting my skills, and executing the plans I’ve practised. It feels great to contribute when I get the chance. I just try to enjoy my bowling and keep my plans simple. No matter the situation – powerplay or death – I just focus on execution and stick to what I’ve practised,” he added.

Earlier, Arshdeep Singh’s absence from India’s playing XI in the first two T20Is against Australia had drawn sharp reactions from several corners, including former India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin. Ashwin questioned the team’s selection strategy, highlighting that Arshdeep’s consistent omission could affect his rhythm and confidence.
Meanwhile, in the match, India’s chase was powered by Washington Sundar’s unbeaten 49 off 23 balls, taking the visitors to 188/5 in 18.3 overs.
