BCCI has delayed plans for a victory parade after India’s Women’s World Cup win, focusing first on resolving the Asia Cup trophy issue with the ICC.
The BCCI has yet to confirm plans for a victory parade to celebrate India’s maiden ICC Women’s World Cup title. BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia stated that the board will decide on celebrations only after senior officials return from ICC meetings in Dubai, scheduled between November 4 and 7.
India ended their title drought with a 52-run win over South Africa in the final, marking their first-ever World Cup triumph. Saikia mentioned that he, along with other BCCI representatives, is traveling to Dubai to attend key ICC discussions. Among the issues to be addressed is the return of the Asia Cup trophy, which remains unresolved.
“Nothing like a victory parade is planned as of now. I’m leaving for Dubai to attend the ICC meeting. Several officials are heading there as well, so once we return, we will plan accordingly,” IANS quoted Saikia as saying.
“We will take up the Asia Cup trophy matter with the ICC and hopefully get our trophy back with the respect and honour it deserves,” he added.
