Dale Steyn’s Combined IND-SA XI surprised fans for excluding Temba Bavuma despite featuring seven Indian players and four South Africans.
Dale Steyn’s combined IND-SA XI was revealed ahead of the three-match ODI series beginning in Ranchi on November 30. He choose seven Indian players and four South Africans. The notable omission from Steyn’s list was South Africa captain Temba Bavuma, despite his 1,941 ODI runs in 51 innings.
Steyn picked Rohit Sharma and Quinton de Kock as the opening pair, with Virat Kohli, Tilak Varma, KL Rahul and Dewald Brevis forming the middle order. Ravindra Jadeja and Marco Jansen filled the all-rounder roles, while Kuldeep Yadav featured as the only frontline spinner. Lungi Ngidi and Arshdeep Singh completed the XI as the fast-bowling duo.
“So my combined 1. If I had to combine the two teams. It’s a tricky one, lots of fantastic players, so someone is going to miss out, but it would be Rohit (Sharma) to open the batting with Quinten de Kock, Virat (Kohli) at 3, Tilak Varma at 4, KL Rahul at 5, (Dewald) Brevis at 6, (Ravindra) Jadeja, (Marco) Jansen, Kuldeep (Yadav), Arshdeep (Singh) and Lungi Ngidi,” the former cricketer said in a video shared by Star Sports.
