A complaint has been filed against Hardik Pandya alleging disrespect to the Indian national flag during India’s T20 World Cup 2026 celebrations, following viral videos from the post-match scenes.
India all-rounder Hardik Pandya faces a complaint after the T20 World Cup 2026 celebrations in Ahmedabad. A Pune-based advocate approached the police over the incident. The application was submitted at Shivaji Nagar police station. Authorities confirmed receipt of the complaint on Wednesday.
The issue relates to India’s victory celebrations at the Narendra Modi Stadium. Videos from the celebrations circulated widely on social media.
The complainant claimed Pandya celebrated while the Indian Tricolour remained draped around his shoulders. The complaint also noted instances in which the player ran and danced on the field during the celebrations. The advocate argued that such actions could violate provisions under Section 2 of the National Flag Act 1971.

“You must have seen the T20 World Cup here. Hardik Pandya was dancing with his girlfriend in celebration of his victory. The national flag was tied to his back. According to Section 2 of the 1971 National Flag Act, we should respect the dignity of the national flag. However, Hardik Pandya was so lost in the celebration of his victory that he was lying with his girlfriend while wearing the national flag. I believe it is an insult to the national flag,” Khan told ANI.
“I have filed a complaint with the Shivaji Nagar police station. They have accepted my complaint and provided me with a copy. Let’s see what happens next,” he added.
The application requested appropriate action from the authorities. Police officials acknowledged the submission but have not announced further steps yet.
