ICC named Sanju Samson and Amelia Kerr Players of the Month after standout performances in T20 World Cup and March fixtures.
Sanju Samson secured the ICC Player of the Month award after leading India’s charge at the Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. New Zealand all-rounder Amelia Kerr claimed the women’s honour, her third, following strong ODI and T20I displays in March.
Samson went over Jasprit Bumrah and Connor Esterhuizen, while Kerr beat Beth Mooney and Ayabonga Khaka. Samson also won Player of the Tournament for his decisive performances.
He hit an unbeaten 97 against West Indies in Kolkata, then scored 89 in the semifinal against England in Mumbai and another 89 in the final against New Zealand in Ahmedabad. India retained the title and became the first team to win it on home soil.
Samson called the award special and described the World Cup win as a dream moment.
“Winning the ICC Player of the Month award is an incredible feeling, especially as it comes during what has been the most unforgettable phase of my cricketing journey. Playing a part in India’s triumph at the Men’s T20 World Cup was truly a dream realised, and it took some time for the magnitude of that moment to fully sink in,” Samson said.
“This is an exciting era for Indian cricket, with immense talent across the board. I feel grateful for the opportunities I’ve received, and for the trust and support from my team-mates and coaching staff that have allowed me to perform at my best,” he added
Meanwhile, Amelia Kerr delivered an all-round masterclass across formats. She scored 176 runs in 4 ODIs at a strike-rate of 78.57 and took 18 wickets at an economy of 3.77. New Zealand beat Zimbabwe 3-0, with Kerr earning Player of the Series after a best of 7/34 in the second match.
In T20Is, she added 276 runs at a strike-rate of 158.62 and picked up 6 wickets. She again won Player of the Series as New Zealand secured a 4-1 win over South Africa.
Kerr, who previously won the award in February 2022 and October 2024, called it a special month and praised the team’s belief and unity.
“It’s been a special month for the White Ferns. It’s always nice to be able to contribute to wins for your country but seeing the way the whole team has played, the selflessness and the belief is what has been the highlight for me this past month,” Kerr said.
