WATCH | Impact Player Medal for Jasprit Bumrah After Game-Changing 2/36 Against West Indies

Jasprit Bumrah won the Impact Player Medal after a crucial 2/36 spell against West Indies, with fielding coach T Dilip praising his composure at Eden Gardens.

Jasprit Bumrah won the Impact Player Medal after a key spell against West Indies at Eden Gardens. He finished with figures of 2/36 in 4 overs.

In the 12th over, Bumrah took two wickets. He dismissed Shimron Hetmyer and Roston Chase when West Indies looked set to score big. Those wickets slowed the scoring rate and shifted momentum towards India. West Indies eventually posted a manageable total, which India chased down with Sanju Samson scoring 97*.

India’s fielding coach T Dilip presented the Impact Player Medal to Jasprit Bumrah. He praised the team and highlighted Bumrah’s calm execution under pressure.

“Brilliant stuff, brilliant effort, well done. We’re a gun team and today we showed with our intent what it means to be that. That’s what the play was today. Today’s game reminds me of my favourite quote: “The strength of the team is each individual, and the strength of each individual is the team.” Today we represented that through care and belief everytime we did that. Outstanding efforts. The impact player goes to someone who owns the big moments most of the times with his calm face and deadly execution. He’s none other than Jasprit Bumrah,” Dilip said.

Jasprit Bumrah then praised his teammates. He highlighted Shivam Dube’s two crucial fours that reduced pressure in the final overs. He also appreciated Tilak Varma for his calm effort in the middle phase.

The win confirms India’s place in the semi-final. They will now face England on Thursday at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
