India is reportedly set to play South Africa in their only warm-up match ahead of the T20 World Cup 2026. The tournament begins on February 7. India, led by Suryakumar Yadav, enters the event as defending champions. They are placed in Group A with the Netherlands, Pakistan, the USA, and Namibia.
Reports from Cricbuzz indicate the warm-up match will take place on February 4 at the DY Patil Stadium. The ICC is expected to release the full list of warm-up fixtures on Monday. The announcement faced delays due to uncertainty surrounding Bangladesh’s refusal to travel to India.
The situation eased after the ICC replaced Bangladesh with Scotland in Group C. South Africa, runners-up in the previous edition, are grouped with Afghanistan, New Zealand, Canada, and the UAE. They begin their campaign on February 9.

Meanwhile, India is hosting New Zealand in a five-match T20I series that concludes on January 31. After the series, World Cup squad members will separate briefly before regrouping in Mumbai on February 3.
The T20 World Cup features 20 teams. Sixteen advance to the Super 8 stage. Semifinals take place on March 4 and March 5. The final is scheduled for March 8.
