
The BCCI announced the schedule for a five-match women’s T20I series between India and Sri Lanka.
The Indian women’s cricket team will play a five-match T20I series against Sri Lanka at home in December. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the schedule on social media platform X on Friday, November 28.
The first two matches will be held at the Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam on December 21 and 23. The series will then shift to Thiruvananthapuram’s Greenfield International Stadium for the third, fourth, and fifth T20Is on December 26, 28, and 30.
In a release, the BCCI stated, “The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announces the schedule for the upcoming IDFC FIRST Bank Women’s T20I series as India hosts Sri Lanka for a five-match contest next month. The series will begin in Visakhapatnam before moving to Thiruvananthapuram for the remaining fixtures.”
This series marks the Indian team’s return to international cricket since winning the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 final on November 2 in Navi Mumbai.
Series Schedule and Venues
Following the T20I series, the Indian players will immediately begin preparations for the 2026 Women’s Premier League (WPL). The WPL 2026 season is scheduled to be played from January 9 to February 5 in Navi Mumbai and Vadodara.

Both the home series against Sri Lanka and the WPL are seen as crucial building blocks for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026. The tournament will be held in England from June 15 to July 6. After securing their maiden ODI World Cup title this year, the Indian team will now target their first-ever T20 World Cup victory.
