Pakistan legend Zaheer Abbas praised Jasprit Bumrah’s match-winning performances in the T20 World Cup 2026.

Jasprit Bumrah played a decisive role in guiding the India national cricket team to victory in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. The 32-year-old fast bowler delivered outstanding performances throughout the tournament, finishing with 14 wickets from eight matches.

Bumrah saved one of his best displays for the grand finale against the New Zealand national cricket team at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on March 8. In the high-pressure match, the Indian pacer produced a sensational spell of 4 for 15, which played a key role in India’s commanding victory.

His brilliance with the ball earned him the Player of the Match award in the final. Apart from the summit clash, Bumrah also impressed in crucial encounters against Pakistan, South Africa, the West Indies and England, drawing widespread praise from fans and cricket experts.

Pakistan Great Abbas Compares Bumrah to Akram and Waqar

Former Pakistan fast bowler Zaheer Abbas, widely known as the “Asian Bradman,” heaped praise on Bumrah for his exceptional performances during the tournament. The Pakistan great went as far as comparing the Indian pacer to legendary fast bowlers Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis.

“Sanju Samson played very well at the top. Three scores of 80-plus in three matches is just phenomenal. Then there is Jasprit Bumrah. What do I say about him? He is an exceptional talent. The overall team performance was very, very good. Top class”, Abbas was quoted as saying by Sports Now.

“Jasprit Bumrah is a combination of Waqar and Wasim. There’s no doubt he is one of the best bowlers India has produced. His yorkers, pace, and ability to swing the ball in crucial moments are extraordinary. He has single-handedly won the World Cup for his team with this performance,” he added.

Sanju Samson’s Consistency Also Draws Praise

Abbas also reserved special praise for Indian batter Sanju Samson, who played a key role in India’s title-winning campaign with consistent performances at the top of the order.

Samson delivered three consecutive scores of 80-plus during the tournament, providing India with strong starts and helping the team dominate crucial matches. His impressive run with the bat was instrumental in India becoming the first team in history to win the T20 World Cup three times.

Abbas further congratulated the Indian team for their dominant performance throughout the competition.

“India played like champions. They are bound to win this tournament, and they’ve done it three times. Congratulations to them, and they absolutely deserve it,” Abbas said.
