T20 World Cup 2026: Jasprit Bumrah to Miss USA Game, India Left With 13 Fit Players

Jasprit Bumrah is likely to miss India’s T20 World Cup 2026 opener against USA due to viral fever, leaving India with only 13 fit players as Washington Sundar awaits fitness clearance.

Jasprit Bumrah might reportedly miss India’s opening match of the T20 World Cup 2026 against the United States of America(USA) due to viral fever. According to reports from The Indian Express, the team management plans to rest the fast bowler and avoid risking him at the start of the tournament. The match will take place at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, on Saturday.

The report added that Bumrah visited the venue on the eve of the match but skipped training. His absence opens the door for Mohammed Siraj, who recently joined the squad. Siraj was added after Harshit Rana suffered a knee injury during the warm-up game against South Africa on February 4 in Navi Mumbai.

Meanwhile, India currently have only 13 fit players available. All-rounder Washington Sundar remains unavailable and has not joined the squad. He is undergoing assessment at the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru and awaits final medical clearance. India is targeting their third T20 World Cup title.

India’s updated squad: Suryakumar Yadav (C), Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson (WK), Ishan Kishan (WK), Tilak Varma, Hardik Pandya, Shivam Dube, Axar Patel (VC), Rinku Singh, Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, Kuldeep Yadav, Varun Chakaravarthy, Washington Sundar, Mohd. Siraj
