Mitchell Marsh’s 90 Takes LSG to Crushing 7-Wicket Win Over CSK

Mitchell Marsh smashed 90 off 38 balls as Lucknow Super Giants chased down 188 against Chennai Super Kings in just 16.4 overs.

Lucknow Super Giants produced a strong batting display at their home fortress in Ekana to dismantle Chennai Super Kings by 7 wickets on Friday evening, chasing down a target of 188 with an entire 3.2 overs to spare.

LSG skipper Rishabh Pant won the toss and opted to bowl first, and CSK stitched together a competitive total of 187/5 in their 20 overs. Kartik Sharma was the standout performer for Chennai, contributing a gutsy 71 runs off 42 balls, with 6 fours and 5 sixes. He was well supported by a late cameo from Shivam Dube, who smashed 32 off just 16 deliveries at a strike rate of 200 to help CSK past the 180-mark.

For LSG, spinner Akash Maharaj Singh was the pick of the bowlers, taking 3 wickets for just 26 runs in his 4 overs.

The chase, however, belonged almost entirely to Mitchell Marsh (90). The Australian all-rounder came out with intent from ball one, hammering 90 off just 38 balls, featuring 9 fours and 7 sixes at a strike rate of 236.84. He and Josh Inglis (36 off 32) forged a massive 135-run opening stand that effectively ended the match by the 12th over.

Although Marsh was run out unlucky just short of a deserved century, Nicholas Pooran arrived and kept the foot firmly on the accelator. He smashed 32 off 17 balls, including 4 sixes, to seal the win alongside Mukul Choudhary. LSG crossed the line at 188/3 in just 16.4 overs.
