Mohammad Amir, Ahmed Shehzad Make a Bet on India’s Semi-Final Fate: ‘I Will Quit The Show’

Mohammad Amir made a bold bet over India’s T20 World Cup semi-final chances, backing West Indies to win in Kolkata and daring Ahmed Shehzad on-air.

Former Pakistan cricketers Mohammad Amir and Ahmed Shehzad shared contrasting views on India’s chances in the T20 World Cup 2026. India will face the West Indies in a must-win Super 8 match at Eden Gardens on Sunday. The winner will advance to the semi-finals.

Amir backed West Indies to win, pointing to India’s bowling concerns beyond Jasprit Bumrah. He noted that Zimbabwe scored 184 against India, and the West Indies recovered from 90/7 to post 170-plus in another match.

Amir also made a bold on-air bet. He said he will appear alone on the post-match show if West Indies win.

“West Indies can easily beat India. The match is in Kolkata. If you look at India’s bowling, aside from Bumrah, the rest isn’t that great. Even Zimbabwe scored 184. West Indies went to 170 odd after being 90/7. I think the West Indies can easily beat India,” Amir said on the ‘Haarna Mana Hai’ show.

“Daren Sammy is a very good coach. He’s very lucky; the West Indies will beat India. Rovman Powell will score big. If West Indies, then only I will come for the post-match show, and these two gentlemen (Latif and Shehzad) won’t come,” he added.

Shehzad, however, remained confident about India’s chances. He added a light-hearted remark during the debate. He said Amir would lose his astrologer tag if India qualified. If India failed, Shehzad said he would step away from the show.

“I disagree with Amir here. I think India will beat the West Indies and qualify for the semi-finals. India are a very strong team, their players know how to handle pressure in the big games. Just see how they perform against Pakistan every time. India were able to score 250 in a must-win match against Zimbabwe. I strongly feel India will play the final. If India qualifies, then we will snatch the tag of astrologer from Amir. If India doesn’t qualify, then I will quit this show,” Shehzad opined.

The India vs West Indies match starts at 7 pm IST. It will be interesting to see which team steps up and proves the predictions right on the field.
