Reports suggest PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi has been invited to attend the IPL 2026 final and ICC Board meeting in Ahmedabad, potentially marking a major moment in India-Pakistan cricket relations.
The Indian Premier League continues to remain one of the biggest sporting celebrations in the country, with the IPL final often turning into a grand cricketing spectacle attended by top dignitaries and officials from across the world.
For IPL 2026, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to stage the final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on May 31. Amid the excitement surrounding the summit clash, reports from Pakistan have now sparked major attention regarding the possible arrival of Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Mohsin Naqvi in India.
According to Geo News, Naqvi has reportedly been invited to attend both the IPL 2026 final and the ICC Board meeting scheduled in Ahmedabad.
“BCCI has invited PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi for the IPL final and ICC Board meeting in Ahmedabad. PM Shehbaz Sharif will decide whether Mohsin Naqvi travels to India or not,” a report from Geo News stated.
The possible visit has already generated massive discussions due to the strained political and cricketing relationship between India and Pakistan in recent years.

ICC Board Meeting In Ahmedabad To Discuss Major Cricketing Matters
Apart from the IPL final, Ahmedabad is also scheduled to host an important ICC Board meeting on May 30 and 31, where chiefs of multiple Full Member boards are expected to attend.
The meeting was initially planned to be held in the Middle East but was reportedly postponed because of the ongoing war situation. It has now been shifted to Ahmedabad, where several major cricketing matters are expected to be discussed.
Among the key topics reportedly set for discussion are the expansion of the World Test Championship cycle and the possibility of including one-off Test matches within the structure.
Interestingly, Mohsin Naqvi had earlier hinted at Pakistan’s willingness to play Test cricket against all nations, including India, during future FTP cycles.
“We will play Tests against all member boards in the next FTP,” Mohsin Naqvi had said after a bilateral meeting with BCB in Dhaka.
The statement had already fueled speculation regarding the long-awaited return of Indo-Pak bilateral Test cricket.
Why IPL 2026 Final Was Shifted From Bengaluru To Ahmedabad
The IPL 2026 final was originally expected to be hosted at Bengaluru’s M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, especially with Royal Challengers Bengaluru entering the season as defending champions.
However, the BCCI eventually shifted the final to Ahmedabad following political complications in Bengaluru. As a result, the Narendra Modi Stadium will now host the grand finale of the tournament.
Meanwhile, Punjab Kings’ home venues in New Chandigarh and Dharamsala have been awarded the playoff fixtures, including the Qualifier and Eliminator matches.
