Former India captain MS Dhoni was spotted at Wankhede during the ongoing India vs England semi-final and shared a warm hug with Rohit Sharma.

Former India captain MS Dhoni is in attendance at the ongoing 2026 T20 World Cup semi-final between India and England at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Thursday, March 5. Dhoni watched the match from the stands with his wife, Sakshi. Social media clips showed him cheering a six hit by India captain Suryakumar Yadav. A few deliveries later, cameras captured Dhoni greeting former India captain Rohit Sharma. He was also seen sharing a warm hug with Rohit.

Fans rarely see Dhoni at live matches, but he travelled to the venue after attending Arjun Tendulkar’s wedding earlier that day. Meanwhile, Rohit serves as a brand ambassador for the 20-team tournament. He also led India to the 2024 T20 World Cup title.

Several other celebrities were also spotted. Bollywood actors Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Anil Kapoor, and Abhishek Bachchan watched from the stands. Nita Ambani, co-owner of Mumbai Indians and an executive at Reliance Industries Limited, also attended with family members.

In the match, India delivered a strong batting performance in the first innings. The team posted 253 for 7 in 20 overs. Sanju Samson led the scoring with 89 off 42 balls. Ishan Kishan added 39 off 18, while Shivam Dube scored 43 off 25. Hardik Pandya finished strongly with 27 off 12.

England now chase 254 for a win. The winner will face New Zealand in the final. The title match will take place in Ahmedabad on Sunday, March 08.
