MS Dhoni to Miss CSK’s Crucial IPL 2026 Clash Against LSG

MS Dhoni reportedly did not travel with the Chennai Super Kings squad to Lucknow and will miss the IPL 2026 match against LSG.

MS Dhoni will reportedly miss Chennai Super Kings’ crucial IPL 2026 match against Lucknow Super Giants(LSG) after not travelling with the squad to Lucknow. Reports from Crictracker claimed the veteran wicketkeeper-batter decided against joining the team as CSK continue their push for a playoff spot with a settled combination.

Dhoni has not played a single match this season because of a calf strain that worsened after he resumed practice sessions earlier in the tournament. The former CSK captain also suffered a knee injury before the start of IPL 2026, which further delayed his return.

Despite Dhoni’s absence, Chennai revived their campaign strongly after a poor beginning. The five-time champions currently sit sixth on the points table with 10 points from 10 matches and have won three of their last four games.

Recently, former India captain Anil Kumble had also suggested Dhoni may avoid returning immediately because CSK traditionally prefer not to disturb a winning combination during important phases of the tournament.

CSK now require at least two wins from their remaining three league matches to strengthen their playoff hopes. After the Lucknow fixture on May 15, Chennai will face Sunrisers Hyderabad at home before travelling to play Gujarat Titans.
