Pakistan Lodge Complaint After Controversial LBW Review In BAN vs PAK 3rd ODI

Pakistan filed a complaint after a controversial LBW review during the third ODI against Bangladesh. The series ended 2-1 in Bangladesh’s favour.

The ODI series between Bangladesh and Pakistan featured many tense moments. Another controversy came up during the 3rd ODI. The issue involved a decision from on-field umpire Kumar Dharmasena.

The incident occurred near the end of the match. Pakistan needed 12 runs from the last 2 balls. Spinner Rishad Hossain delivered a leg-side ball to Shaheen Afridi. The umpire initially signalled a wide. Bangladesh players then discussed the delivery and requested an LBW review.

Pakistan officials believed the decision came after a stadium replay appeared. Regulations require teams to request reviews before any replay appears on the big screen. Pakistan argued that the replay possibly influenced Bangladesh’s choice to challenge the call.

Pakistan also questioned whether Bangladesh requested the review within the 15-second limit. No timer appeared on the television broadcast to confirm the decision. Technology from the Decision Review System(DRS) later clarified the moment. Hawk-Eye and UltraEdge showed the ball touching Shaheen Afridi’s bat. Because of the contact, the umpire cancelled the wide call. Bangladesh still lost the LBW review, but Pakistan then needed 12 runs from the final ball.

Afridi attempted a big hit but lost his wicket. The dismissal secured an 11-run win for Bangladesh and a 2-1 series result. According to reports from ESPNCricinfo, Pakistan has now approached the match referee, Neeyamur Rashid, with a complaint for the LBW review.

The series had already seen tension earlier when Salman Ali Agha was involved in a controversial run-out with Mehidy Hasan Miraz during the second ODI.
