Ravindra Jadeja Speaks Out After Being Left Out of India’s ODI Squad

Ravindra Jadeja revealed that he was confused being left out of India’s upcoming ODI squad, despite aiming to play in the 2027 World Cup.

Ravindra Jadeja has voiced his desire to play in the 2027 ODI World Cup and contribute to India’s campaign in Africa. The all-rounder, who was recently left out of India’s ODI squad for the upcoming Australia tour, remains keen to represent the country in 50-over cricket.

Speaking at the post-match press conference, Jadeja revealed that met with chief selector Ajit Agarkar and captain Shubman Gill following his omission but did not fully understand the reasoning behind the decision.

“Of course, I want to play the 2027 World Cup. It’s every cricketer’s dream to win an ODI World Cup. The selectors and captain spoke to me, but honestly, I didn’t understand the reasons,” Jadeja told the reporters.

“At the end of the day, the team management, captain, and the coach think a certain way. They must have a reason for not selecting me for this series. They did speak to me, it wasn’t a surprise to me. I didn’t find out only when the team was announced. That’s good that the captain, the selectors, and the coach informed me about their thinking,” he added.

Shubman Gill has been named India’s new ODI captain, replacing Rohit Sharma as the BCCI looks to build a future-focused squad. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli retain their places. All-rounder Hardik Pandya is also missing due to injury. Shreyas Iyer will serve as vice-captain, and KL Rahul is India’s specialist wicketkeeper-batter.
