Rishabh Pant is reportedly set to return to India’s Test squad for the two-match series against South Africa, starting November 14 in Kolkata. The wicketkeeper-batter missed more than 100 days of action after suffering a toe injury during the Manchester Test against England. Although he batted through pain to score a fifty, he was later ruled out for rehabilitation at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru.
According to PTI, the selectors are expected to name the squad on Tuesday, with Pant likely replacing N Jagadeesan. Pant proved his full fitness recently by leading India A to victory over South Africa A, scoring a decisive 90 in the second innings while chasing 275.
Meanwhile, India’s Test captain Shubman Gill, along with Jasprit Bumrah, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Axar Patel, and Washington Sundar, will join the Test squad after completing the five-match T20I series in Australia on November 8. Spinner Kuldeep Yadav has been released from T20I duty to play in the second India A four-day match beginning November 6.
