Scott Boland Names Rishabh Pant as Toughest Batter He Has Faced

Australia pacer Scott Boland named Rishabh Pant as the toughest batter he has bowled to, praising Pant’s unpredictability.

In a recent rapid-fire segment released by Grasscricket, Australian pacer Scott Boland named Rishabh Pant as the toughest batter he has faced. He noted Pant’s unpredictability, noting how he can attack aggressively one moment and defend solidly the next.

“Rishabh Pant from India. He’s someone who’s very unpredictable. So, I feel like sometimes he slogs you for six and you bowl the same ball, and he blocks it. So, he is very hard to bowl to,” Boland said.

Earlier, Rishabh Pant had also praised Boland during the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy, which Australia won 3-1. Boland featured in three Tests and took 21 wickets at an average of 13.19. He dismissed Pant twice in the series and limited him to 64 runs at an average of 32 and a strike rate of 75.3.

Pant had then pointed out Boland’s control and comfort in home conditions, noting his strong understanding of Test cricket.

“I think he’s been an amazing bowler. The way he bowls line and lengths, especially in Test cricket, is quite difficult because he’s so used to playing in the condition and you don’t feel like he’s playing his first initial matches. It feels like he’s been there for a long period of time and that’s the kind of experience,” Rishabh Pant had said.

Meanwhile, Boland has carried that form into the ongoing Ashes at the Melbourne Cricket Ground(MCG). He took 3 for 30 in the second innings. Boland later opened as nightwatchman and remains unbeaten on 4 off 6 balls.
