Shafali Verma Becomes The Sole Indian Nominee for ICC Monthly Award

Shafali Verma was the sole Indian nominee for November’s ICC award following her World Cup final performance.

Shafali Verma is the only Indian player nominated for the ICC Player of the Month award for November. This follows her match-winning performance in the Women’s World Cup final against South Africa.

In the final, she scored a decisive 87 runs and took two crucial wickets with her part-time spin. Her efforts turned the game and secured India’s victory. Notably, she was originally not in the squad and only played as a late injury replacement for Pratika Rawal.

Notably Verma has played only 2 matches in 2025, scoring 97 runs with a strong average of 48.50 and an impressive strike rate of 116.86. Herhighest innings score for the year was 87, and she hit 9 fours and 2 sixes. She recorded one half-century and no centuries in the format this year.

Other Emerging Nations Shine

The other women’s nominees are UAE captain Esha Oza and Thailand’s Thipatcha Putthawong. Both excelled in the inaugural ICC Women’s Emerging Nations Trophy in Bangkok. Oza was named Player of the Tournament, while Putthawong was the leading wicket-taker.

For the men’s award, the nominees are South Africa’s Simon Harmer, Bangladesh’s Taijul Islam, and Pakistan’s Mohammad Nawaz. Harmer took 17 wickets in a Test series win in India. Taijul spearheaded Bangladesh’s victory over Ireland with 13 wickets. Nawaz won the Player of the Series award in a tri-series with all-round performances.
