BCCI Confirms Shreyas Iyer’s Condition Stable After Spleen Injury

BCCI confirmed that Shreyas Iyer is stable and recovering well after suffering a spleen injury during the third ODI against Australia.

Shreyas Iyer is recovering well after sustaining a serious abdominal injury during the third ODI against Australia on October 25. The 30-year-old suffered a spleen laceration and internal bleeding following a fielding mishap in Sydney. Medical officials quickly detected the issue and controlled the bleeding.

A fresh scan conducted on October 28 showed notable improvement in his condition. Iyer remains under close observation and continues treatment in Sydney. The BCCI medical team, in coordination with specialists from both India and Australia, is closely tracking his recovery. Officials confirmed that he is stable and responding positively to treatment.

“Shreyas Iyer sustained a blunt injury to his abdomen, resulting in a laceration of his spleen with internal bleeding on 25th October during the third ODI against Australia. His condition is now stable, and he continues to be under observation. A repeat scan done on Tuesday, 28th October, has shown significant improvement, and Shreyas is on the road to recovery,” the BCCI said in a statement.

Earlier, Suryakumar Yadav had shared a positive update on Shreyas Iyer’s health, confirming that the middle-order batter is recovering well and communicating with teammates. The Indian captain revealed that the team initially did not realise the seriousness of Iyer’s abdominal injury during the third ODI against Australia. The situation became clear only after medical evaluation in the dressing room. The BCCI medical team, along with specialists from India and Australia, continues to monitor his recovery.
