South Africa named their ODI and T20I squads for the India tour, recalling fast bowler Anrich Nortje.

South Africa have announced their squads for the white-ball leg of their India tour beginning November 30. Fast bowler Anrich Nortje returns to the T20I squad after more than a year out through injury.

Regular captain Aiden Markram also resumes leadership of the T20I team. Nortje last played for South Africa in the T20 World Cup 2024 final against India.

The T20I squad includes: Aiden Markram, Ottneil Baartman, Corbin Bosch, Dewald Brevis, Quinton de Kock, Tony de Zorzi, Donovan Ferreira, Reeza Hendricks, Marco Jansen, Keshav Maharaj, George Linde, Kwena Maphaka, David Miller, Lungi Ngidi, Anrich Nortje, Tristan Stubbs.

Head coach Shukri Conrad expressed excitement about Nortje’s return ahead of next year’s T20 World Cup. “The T20I series in particular is an important opportunity for us to finalise our squad ahead of next year’s T20 World Cup, which will also be played in India. Getting clarity on combinations and roles now is crucial as we build towards that tournament. It’s also really good to welcome Anrich back into the T20I side after he missed the previous tours through injury. We know exactly what he brings, so we’re really looking forward to working with him.” he said.

The ODI squad sees batter Rubin Hermann retain his place under captain Temba Bavuma. Conrad noted the focus is building toward the 2027 Cricket World Cup with Test team also being victorious in the first Test too.

“In the 50-over format, these matches will give us a clear picture of where we are as a group and what we need to keep building on as we shape the squad ahead of the 2027 World Cup,” he added.

South Africa will be without Kagiso Rabada for the white-ball matches and the second Test due to a rib bone stress injury.
