Suryakumar Yadav hailed India’s dressing-room freedom after their ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 triumph and set sights on Olympic gold next.

“It’s important to understand that you’ll fail more in your career. Ups and downs will keep on coming. It’s important to respect the game. Be true to yourself. You need to understand each player. That’s what we did in the last couple of years. Give them freedom and not let them change their identities.”

The captain emphasised that mutual trust and understanding among players have played a significant role in helping the team perform under pressure.

Reflecting on India’s recent success in global tournaments, Suryakumar pointed out that the team has constantly evolved its style of play depending on the situation.

“We have won three ICC trophies in a row. Everything is going well. We understood how this team needs to work forward. 2025 champions trophy, we played a different brand. Now in 2026 we played differently. It’s about winning tournaments.”

The skipper added that maintaining open communication within the dressing room has been equally important for building a strong and confident team environment.
