India were drawn against Pakistan in the T20 World Cup 2026 group stage during the tournament’s official draw.
India will face arch-rivals Pakistan in the group stage of the 2026 T20 World Cup. The highly anticipated match is scheduled for February 15 in Colombo during the tournament co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka from February 7 to March 8.
The top-ranked T20I side will compete in a group containing Pakistan (7th ranked), Netherlands, Namibia, and USA. Both India and Pakistan remain strong favorites to advance to the Super 8 stage.
Tournament Groups and Structure
South Africa, the 2024 runners-up, face a challenging group featuring New Zealand, Afghanistan, UAE, and Canada. Afghanistan currently ranks 10th but has established itself as a formidable T20 opponent.
Co-hosts Sri Lanka (8th ranked) will battle Australia, Zimbabwe, Ireland, and Oman in their group. Former champions England and West Indies join Bangladesh and Nepal in another segment of the draw.
Newcomers Italy, ranked 28th globally, will make their T20 World Cup debut in this edition. Their group placement adds an intriguing element to the tournament structure.
India begins their campaign against the USA before facing Namibia, Pakistan, and the Netherlands. The India-Pakistan clash will be held in Colombo, while Indian host cities include Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, and Ahmedabad.
Ahmedabad will host the final unless Pakistan qualifies for the championship match. Mumbai, Kolkata, and Colombo have been selected as semifinal venues. The International Cricket Council will officially announce the full draw in Mumbai on November 25.
