Ahmedabad will reportedly host the opening and final matches of the T20 World Cup 2026, while Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium will stage one semifinal.
The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 will begin on February 7 and conclude on March 8, with Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium hosting both the opener and the final. The tournament will be jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka.
According to reports from the Indian Express, Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium will stage one of the two semifinals, while Colombo is likely to host the match if India and Pakistan face each other in the last four.
The decision follows discussions between ICC and BCCI officials to hold matches in fewer cities than the 2023 World Cup. Wankhede continues its rich World Cup legacy, having hosted India’s semifinal in 2016 and 2023, along with the memorable ODI World Cup final in 2011 that saw India lift the trophy.

Meanwhile, India are set to play in all four major cities, with matches scheduled across Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, and Kolkata, while three Sri Lankan venues will also feature. Bengaluru may host warm-up fixtures, either at the Centre of Excellence or M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.
The ICC has also confirmed that if Sri Lanka reaches the semifinals, they will play in Colombo, while any India-Pakistan fixture or a Pakistan final appearance will be held in Sri Lanka.
