Temba Bavuma returns as South Africa’s Test captain for the two-match home series against India starting November 14.
Cricket South Africa has named a 15-member squad for the two-match Test series against India, starting November 14 at Eden Gardens and continuing in Guwahati from November 22. Temba Bavuma returns as Test captain after recovering from a left calf injury that ruled him out of the Pakistan tour.
South Africa, who drew that series 1-1, have retained most of their squad, including spinners Keshav Maharaj, Simon Harmer, and Senuran Muthusamy. The batting group features Bavuma, Aiden Markram, Tony de Zorzi, Dewald Brevis, Zubayr Hamza, and Ryan Rickelton, with Kyle Verreynne as wicketkeeper. Kagiso Rabada leads the pace attack alongside Marco Jansen, Corbin Bosch, and Wiaan Mulder.

“We’ve kept the bulk of the squad that competed in the two-match series against Pakistan. Those players showed real character and fought hard to come from behind and draw that series. “We are anticipating a similar challenge in India, and many of the players who stood up in those conditions will once again be key for us,” SA head coach Shukri Conrad was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.
David Bedingham and Prenelan Subrayen miss out as South Africa opts for a spin-heavy combination suited for Indian pitches.
