The global cricket body ICC will fund and manage the national team program after USA Cricket’s suspension and bankruptcy.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has taken charge to ensure USA players are prepared for major events, including next year’s T20 World Cup and the 2028 Olympics.
This action follows the suspension of USA Cricket (USAC) for governance failures and its subsequent bankruptcy filing. The ICC is working directly with the U.S. Olympic committee to safeguard the sport’s future in the country.
“Our foremost responsibility is to the players who represent the United States on the world stage,” an ICC spokesperson said. “The bankruptcy proceedings initiated by USA Cricket should not, and will not, derail their preparation for ICC events or the LA28 Olympic Games.”
ICC Ready To Help
The ICC stated it is ready to fund and even run the entire High Performance Programmes during the suspension. This includes making sure all contracted national team players continue to be paid. The move protects USA’s participation in upcoming events like the Under-19 World Cup and the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, where cricket will return after over a century.

The council had originally offered a loan to USAC to cover salaries, but this was not accepted. The ICC will now attempt to make these payments directly to support the players and staff.
The ICC is also collaborating closely with the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee (USOPC) to build a stable high-performance pathway for the 2028 Games. A Normalisation Committee appointed by the ICC will continue working to resolve the long-term governance issues within American cricket.
