Star spinner Varun Chakravarthy may miss KKR’s crucial IPL 2026 match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru after worsening a left-leg injury.
Kolkata Knight Riders has reportedly suffered a major injury concern ahead of their crucial IPL 2026 clash against Royal Challengers Bengaluru after Varun Chakravarthy became doubtful for the match in Raipur. According to reports from The Telegraph, the mystery spinner aggravated an injury to his left leg during the recent game against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Social media clips showed Chakravarthy walking with a crutch and wearing a protective boot on his injured leg, raising fears of a longer absence. The spinner reportedly picked up the injury while trying to stop a shot from Ishan Kishan in Hyderabad.

Despite the setback, KKR still hope to have him available because the team must win all remaining matches to stay alive in the playoff race.
A KKR source revealed that Chakravarthy attended practice in Raipur on Monday, but the franchise expects to make a final decision regarding his availability on Tuesday.
“Varun was at our practice (in Raipur) today (Monday), but we will come to know tomorrow (Tuesday) if he could be available for the RCB clash,” a KKR source said while speaking to The Telegraph.
Varun Chakravarthy and veteran spinner Sunil Narine have been instrumental in Kolkata Knight Riders’ turnaround in IPL 2026 after the franchise endured a winless run in their opening six matches of the season.
However, with the Raipur surface expected to offer greater assistance to fast bowlers, something that was clearly visible during Sunday’s clash between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Mumbai Indians, KKR could consider bringing in an extra pacer in place of Chakravarthy for Wednesday’s encounter.
