Virat Kohli reached another landmark ODI century in Ranchi against SA, continuing his form with his 83rd International ton.
Virat Kohli produced another standout knock in the ongoing ODI against South Africa in Ranchi, reaching his 52nd century in the ODIs and 83rd across international cricket. This ton continues his excellent record at the JSCA Stadium, where he has now scored three hundreds in five ODI innings.
Kohli reached the milestone with a fine shot off Marco Jansen, guiding the ball past backward point. He celebrated animatedly as he punched the air and lifted his helmet to greet the roaring crowd. It briefly turned chaotic when an excited fan ran onto the field to greet him, only to be quickly escorted away by security.
A leap of joy ❤️💯

Kohli’s latest hundred has also pushed him past several long-standing benchmarks held by Sachin Tendulkar, including the record for most ODI centuries against South Africa at this venue.

Virat proving once again why he lords over this format, something that we often forget because of the diminishing relevancy of 50 over cricket. Special knock!👏🏽 #INDvSA pic.twitter.com/4qyb1j0MtU

Earlier in the match, India produced a strong start after being sent in to bat. Yashasvi Jaiswal’s quick 18 set the tone before Nandre Burger dismissed him. Virat Kohli(135) joined Rohit Sharma(57) and the pair built strong a century partnership. Kohli hit Corbin Bosch for a six to reach his fifty, while Rohit followed soon after with a controlled half-century.

Rohit’s innings ended when he declined a LBW review despite Kohli’s suggestion. Dewald Brevis then pulled off a diving catch to remove Ruturaj Gaikwad(8). Washington Sundar(13) fell soon after. This has brought in KL Rahul to partner with Kohli as the hosts aim to maintain their scoring rate.
