Virat Kohli is reportedly set to play one more Vijay Hazare Trophy match for Delhi before the New Zealand series.
Virat Kohli is reportedly set to extend his domestic run after making a notable return to the Vijay Hazare Trophy this season. The former India captain has already played two matches for Delhi in the 2025-26 tournament and is expected to appear in one more game before the ODI series against New Zealand.
Kohli returned to domestic 50-over cricket after nearly 15 years, following a BCCI guideline that requires centrally contracted players to feature in at least two domestic matches when free from international duty. He represented Delhi against Andhra and Gujarat, making an immediate impact with the bat. Kohli scored 131 while chasing 299 against Andhra and followed it with 77 against Gujarat. The second innings earned him the Player of the Match award as Delhi won by seven runs.

According to a report by Dainik Jagran, he is likely to play the January 6 fixture against Railways. Kohli had earlier exited the squad after completing the BCCI’s two-match domestic requirement. However, his kit remaining with the team has started talk of another appearance.
Senior reporters indicate the final call depends on BCCI travel plans and pre-series camps for the New Zealand ODIs. No official update has been issued so far. The New Zealand ODI series begins on January 11, with official confirmation still awaited.
