Virat Kohli finally ended his ODI slump during the ongoing third ODI against Australia in Sydney. He celebrated his first run in three matches with a fist pump after taking a single off the first ball he faced from Josh Hazlewood. This comes two days after Kohli registered his second consecutive duck in the series, a first for him.
In the first ODI, Kohli fell for an eight-ball duck and repeated the feat in the second match, raising questions about his spot in the 50-over setup with the 2027 World Cup over a year away.
Kohli’s single came as India chased 237, after Shubman Gill returned to the crease. He clipped a full-length Hazlewood delivery to mid-wicket, earning a loud response from the SCG crowd.
In the match, Australia won the toss and chose to bat first in the third ODI. The openers gave the hosts a strong start, but Indian bowlers gradually regained control. Australia was restricted to 236 runs before being bowled out in the 47th over. Harshit Rana led India’s attack with impressive figures of 4/39 from 8.4 overs.
