Tragedy struck Rinku Singh’s family on Friday morning as the India batter lost his father, Khanchand Singh, who passed away on February 27 after battling stage-four cancer. He breathed his last at a hospital in Aligarh. Members of the cricketing fraternity expressed their condolences, and the latest to stand in solidarity with the southpaw was former India captain Virat Kohli.
“Deeply saddened by the news of Rinku’s father’s demise. My heartfelt prayers and thoughts are with you and your family during this difficult time. May you always find strength in his eternal blessings. Om Shanti,” tweeted Virat Kohli.
Rinku Singh Unlikely To Be Available For West Indies Clash
Rinku left the Indian camp on Friday morning and is unlikely to be available for selection against West Indies on Sunday, March 1, in what is a do-or-die encounter.
The last rites were conducted on Friday, February 27. There is still no update on whether Rinku will stay back with his family during this difficult time or return to the Indian camp for the remainder of the tournament.

Notably, Rinku had also left the Indian camp two days before the Zimbabwe clash after learning that his father’s health had deteriorated. He returned to the team a day before the match but was kept out of the playing XI, with Sanju Samson getting an opportunity at the top.
