Virat Kohli Unhappy With Third Umpires Decision On Jason Holders Catch

Virat Kohli was utterly disappointed after Rajat Patidar was disappointed in a controversial catch taken by Jason Holder.

Virat Kohli was visibly unhappy and engaged in an animated discussion with the umpires following the controversial dismissal of Rajat Patidar during the Indian Premier League 2026 clash between Gujarat Titans and Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

The incident took place in the 8th over when Patidar mistimed a pull shot off Arshad Khan, resulting in a top edge that went high into the leg-side region. What followed was a moment of brilliance and controversy combined, as Jason Holder sprinted across from deep backward square leg to complete a stunning catch.

Holder’s Catch Raises Doubts

Holder’s effort was nothing short of spectacular as he ran to his right, kept his eyes on the ball, and completed a sliding catch while also avoiding a collision with Kagiso Rabada. However, the catch immediately came under scrutiny, with doubts raised over whether the ball was cleanly taken.

The on-field umpires referred the decision to the TV umpire, who eventually ruled it out after reviewing multiple angles. Despite the confirmation, there appeared to be some uncertainty during the process, which did not sit well with Kohli.

Patidar, who scored 19 off 15 balls, looked hesitant to walk off initially, reflecting the ambiguity surrounding the decision.

Kohli Voices His Displeasure Amid RCB’s Strong Start

Kohli, who had earlier played a fiery knock of 28 off just 13 deliveries, was seen expressing his frustration toward the fourth umpire following the decision. His animated reaction highlighted the intensity of the moment, especially given the importance of the partnership between Patidar and Devdutt Padikkal.
